F@#K CANCER!!!! Have a Skate with Bob and Rockford Icehogs

I'm sure one of us knows someone or even has someone in their family that has been taken by pancreatic cancer.  I personally know two angels that are in heaven that were taken by this horrible cancer.  I have a fellow friend that has started a great hockey charity event in regards to help raise money for research for pancreatic cancer called Have a Skate with Bob Foundation

The foundation first came about in 07' when Bob's daughter Rachel suggested having a hockey game in honor of her late mother, Becky, that had passed away from pancreatic cancer.  Last year, they partnered up with AHL Rockford IceHogs to hold Have A Skate With Bob and the Rockford IceHogs, in honor of their late friend Tom Jacobson and Becky Klem....raising over $15,000 for pancreatic cancer research.   This past March....they also partnered with the Central Hockey League's Missouri Mavericks, raising over $9,000 for pancreatic cancer research.

NHL......YOU SUCK!

Everyone knows that if the NHL and NHLPA didn't agree on a new collective bargaining by September 15th...that the NHL would close all it's doors for a lockout.  Here is the Message from the NHL to the fans.  Well it's already 9/23/2012 and haven't heard a single thing about the NHL and NHLPA getting together to work out a plan so that hockey could resume.  What we have heard is that NHL announces cancellation of preseason schedule through Sept. 30 ....which is pretty sad.  The NHL told it's staff that it plans 20% pay cut.  There are a few teams that have already announced lay offs.  Florida Panthers lay off employees, including mascot Stanley C. Panther,Canucks' front office will take pay cut over lockout, and Blue Jackets executives, coaches to take salary cuts of up to 50 percent because of lockout. Now to me this is the craziest out of all that I've read....."NHL has instructed the insurers to cancel all insurance coverage, effective September 16, 2012. This includes Medical and Dental coverage for Players and their families, Disability insurance, Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance, and Spousal Life insurance. Thank goodness the NHLPA is working to restore players' cancelled insurance.

Honestly I could careless who is to blame either NHL or NHLPA or both.  Just get your shit together cause you're really screwing everyone over....being fans, employees, or even yourself.  It's almost October and the pre-season should begin but don't hold your breath....this lockout will go on for a while.  There's a lot of  teams are giving an incentive for Season Ticket Holders during the lockout to keep their money with the team.  This is a list of a few of them.
Chicago Blackhawks 2%
Minnesota Wild 10%
Washington Capitals 1%
Anaheim Ducks 5%
Buffalo Sabres 4%
Columbus Blue Jackets 4%
Winnipeg Jets 3%
Carolina Hurricanes 3%
Philadelphia Flyers 2%
Pittsburgh Penguins 1.5%
Dallas Stars 5%

Now for anyone getting worried that their favorite player is going oversea to play hockey and gets hurts.....well blame it on the NHL.  At least the players have an option to play somewhere else since the owners are a little too greedy.  Im not saying the players are right...just need to work something out asap so that us fans aren't sad and people that work for the NHL aren't getting laid off or taking a paycut.  Thanks your fan of NHL hockey!

Me being from Chicago...I have heard of one hockey team taking advantage of the situation....Chicago Steel Hockey Team...Lock in with the Steel this season. As a result of the NHL strike, the Steel would like to offer a “Lockout Ticket Package”. For only $40, you can get four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, four pucks signed by MacEachern and Slavin, a locker room tour, and free parking.  Blackhawks and Chicago Express season ticket holders from the 2011-12 season, can also purchase discounted Steel season tickets and flex plans simply by showing their 2011-12 season ticket invoice.  For $150, you can cheer on the Steel at all 32 home games and for $60 you get 12 undated ticket vouchers and can select the games that work best for you. ----Not a bad option to watch live hockey.

Of course we have to end it with a few good videos on You Tube which explains are heartache of this lockout.

Here's some update news since the Blackhawks were eliminated in the playoffs.
Montreal Canadians hire Marc Bergevin as a general manager

Blackhawks relase a statement on Marc Bergevin

Ben Youds re-signs with Rockford Icehogs

Blackhawks promote Norm Maciver to assistant general manager

Blackhawks relieve Mike Haviland of coaching duties
(very upset about this)

Blackhawks agree to terms with forward Rob Flick

According to cap geek come July 1st these Blackhawks players will be free agents
-Andrew Brunette
-Brendan Morrison
-Jamal Mayers
-Brandon Bollig (restricted)
-Johnny Oduya
-Sean O'Donnell
-Sami Lepisto

I think the only players that could possibly come back would be Oduya and Bollig.  Oduya def made an impact on our blueline....maybe not playoffs but def reg season.  Stan said that he would be back.  Honestly if he hasn't signed now then I'm assuming the Hawks will move on since he prob wants a raise. Bollig seems to be an effective enforcer and is pretty good with his upper cuts.  Personally I'd love to see Mayers come back out of all the players.

I do see the Blackhawks making some trades too in the off-season.  I'll throw a few names out there and NO Kane is not one of them.  Frolik and Hjalmarsson come to my mind although I would have said Bickell but the guy only makes 541k whereas Frolik makes 2.3 mil and Hjalmarsson makes 3.5 mil.

Anyways, looks like the salary cap might stay the same or go down for next season....then again who know if there will be a next season since NHL-files-CBA-termination-notice-to-NHLPA  It expires on Sept. 15th.  The two parties wont get together til after the NHL Draft.  Hopefully they will come with an agreement so that I can watch my HOCKEY and my beloved team.

Oh by the way.......If you haven't seen it here's are a few pics my brother sent me when he was at O'hare.

My thoughts
Seems like yesterday when the Hawks were on their 9 game-losing streak.....and everyone thought we were out of the playoffs.  Well news flash...it's a long season with 82 games to be played.  The Hawks have figured out how to win games without one of their star players Jonathan Toews.  He's been out for a while with a concussion.  Hopefully he's ready to go on Thursday....the team will be upstoppable but there are two areas of concerns.  Special teams and goaltending.  If the Hawks can figure out a way to score some power play goals....maybe shooting more on goal......that would be amazing....then maybe us fans wouldn't think it's a waste of time.  As for goaltending....yes i know....if the team in front of you isn't playing defense...well chances are your going to get shots headed your way....you have to be on your game and not let in soft goals.  Smith, the Coyotes goalie, he's been pretty good this season and why some might think he's the reason they are in the playoffs.  It will come down to who's on their game and hopefully Crawford will be up for it.  The playoffs begin Wed April 11th.   It literally came down to the last game this season which teams would play each other. Here is the list of matchup for the NHL playoffs.  I will be at Game 4 for this series so if you see me make sure you check out my playoff beard and GO HAWKS!

*As always stats can be found on NHL.com.  The videos can be found on YouTube.

Andrew Brunette and Jamal Mayers signings

Hello readers.....what is new?  Haven't wrote in a while.....been busy and don't have a computer which is a BUMMER!  Anyways figured I show you a few pics from two signings that I attended.  Add Bruno and Jamal to my list of players that have been added to my lampshade.

The first one I attended was the Bud Light Hockey Night is Chicago sponsored by 670am The Score in which Andrew Brunette was a guest with host Jay Zawaski.  It was located at the Neutral Zone in Westmont, IL.  Here's a few pics from this event.
