Brent Seabrook Hawk Ford signing

Brent Seabrook had a Hawks signing on February 26th from 2-4pm at the Hawk Ford .  Basically he was late....about 30 minutes which is nothing new.  It was freezing outside so I did feel bad for the people that were outside. We got there about 11 am and were already 250th person in line. A lot of people were told to leave after the 400th wristband was passed out.  Cool thing was that Jim Cornelison showed up and sang the national anthem.....now that was AWESOME!  I got Seabs to sign a green puck for my boss.  Here are the pics from the event.  Most of them aren't clear...Sorry!

Jake Dowell visits Meijers in Orland Park

On February 25th, 2011 Jake Dowell visited Meijers in Orland Park to cook Thick N’ Hearty Chicken Cheese Soup, which is a Wisconsin favorite, and signed autographs.  If you don't know Dowell is from WI.  Troy Murray, who is the Hawks radio color analyst, was the host for the event.  He talked to Jake, Maribel, and the fans.  Nice thing about this one was that there weren't too many people there compared to Hjalmarsson....probably cause Patrick Sharp had a signing at the same time.  I got to sit and watch the whole time which was nice.  Here is the recipe:

Overall, I had a GREAT time!!  Meet a lot of cool people at the event...especially everyone sitting around me.....made time go by faster!  Jake ended up getting their a half an hour early but the show started on time.  Jake be lookin' FINE that day!  No lie.  It was cute that this one lady drove from Wisconsin Dells to have his college jersey signed that she had.  Troy asked this one boy who his favorite player was and the boy said....Patrick Kane.....then Troy goes who's your fav player that's here and the boy was too cute.....Tommy Hawk!  :-)  BTW...surprisely Im in a photo gallery for the Orland Park Prairie for this event.  You should check it out....i would provide a link....but it's a bad pic of me.  Had a fun time overall!

Niklas Hjalmarsson Visits Meijers back in Jan

On January 17th, 2011 Hjalmarsson visited the Meijers in Niles to cook Swedish meatballs and sign autographs.  I got there about an hour before he was suppose to get there.  The place was a madhouse!  John Wiedeman, who does play-by-play on the radio, was the host for the event.  He talked to Niklas, the fans, and Maribel.  I couldn't hear much cause we were pretty far away from where they were.   Here's the recipe for what Niklas made:

Niklas Hjalmarsson’s Swedish Meatballs with Cream Sauce Recipe
1 meatball per serving, makes 36 servings; recipe provided by Meijer
1 lb. Meijer ground round beef

½  tsp. salt
¼  tsp. Meijer ground black pepper
¼  tsp. nutmeg
Sauce

1 (10.75 oz.) can Campbell’s 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup
1 (12 oz.) can Carnation low fat evaporated milk
1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley or 1 tsp. dried parsley

The scores and interesting stats of the last 6 games

Hawks vs. Predators (2/24/11)
Hawks win 3-0
Coach Q returns.  Crawford 3rd shutout of the season.  Sharp’s assist was his 300th NHL career point.  Hawks had a goal under review and it was washed away.  Glad they were able to still win without that one.  Hawks were outhit  36-16 although they did block 21 compared to 6 for Preds and Preds did giveaway 20.

Hawks vs. Coyotes (2/27/11)
Hawks win 4-3 (SO)
Toews scores twice in regulation and in the shootout.  All Coyotes goals were scored in the 2nd period with 2 out of the 3 were on the power play.  Bryzgalov stopped 38 shots in regulation compared to 26 for Crawford.  The Coyotes outhit the Hawks 21-14 despite loosing the game.

Hawks vs. Wild (2/28/11)
Hawks win 4-2
Sharp (1A), Kopecky, and Toews (2A) all score in the 2nd.  Havlat and Burns score for the Wild in the 3rd to give them hope but Hossa scores a shortie with less than two minutes to go in the game.  Hawks outshot the Wild 34-26 and gaveaway 12 to Hawks 2.  Scott vs. Staubitz....okay fight but i’d give it to Scott.

Hawks vs. Flames (3/2/11)
Hawks win 6-4
Campoli made his debut as a Blackhawk.  Bolland, Campbell, Frolik, and Hossa all had a multi-point game.  They all had a goal and an assist with Frolik having 2 assists.  Kiprusoff allowed four goals on 19 shots before being replaced by Henrik Karlsson in the 3rd.  Bourque scored twice and Iginla scored for the Flames in the 3rd but it wasn’t enough to beat the Hawks.

Hawks vs. Hurricanes (3/4/11)
Hawks win 5-2
It was 2-1 Hawks after 40 minutes of play.  Johnson, Bolland, and Kane scored in a span of  early in the 3rd.  Rookie Justin Peters makes 24 saves for the Hurricanes while Crawford made 18 saves for the game.  Johnson gets his first goal as a Blackhawk.  Bickell gets a multi-point game with a goal and assist.  Hawks were outhit 27-15 but won 71% at the dot.

Hawks vs. Maple Leafs (3/5/11)
Hawks win 5-3
12 players on the Hawks got a least a point for the game.  Reimer was replaced by Jean-Sebastien Giguere to start the third period after allowing five goals on 19 shots for the Leafs.  It was 5-1 Hawks after the 2nd.  Joey Crabb and Joffrey Lupul scored in the 3rd but wasn’t enough to put a W on the board for them.

Interesting notes

Funny stuff
According to ESPNChiHawks on Twitter vs. Maple Leafs (3/5/11)…Toews on Kane: “He made me eat my words tonight.  I was giving it to him on the bench for not using me on the 5-on-3.  I thought he had me down low.  He basically told me to shut up and then fed me a nice pass so I had nothing to say to him for rest of the night.”

Patrick Sharp joined "Waddle & Silvy" to discuss the Hawks' resurgence and his propensity for practical jokes….here’s the link: Funny guy Sharp recalls Toews prank

Here’s a look at Sharpie with his photo shoot for the Chicago Magazine

According to BrianHedger on Twitter (3/2/11) vs. Flames………Sharp on Stalberg: "Maybe a little broken nose or something. Maybe knock a tooth out, cuz he's got a pretty face."

Blackhawks show off their improv skills:

Overall
Hawks are doing GREAT!  Now we finally see the team that we have been waiting for all season....ABOUT TIME!  The Kane-Toews-Sharp line has been phenomenal.  Over the past 6 games that line combined is .......   Nice to see the depth working as well...we can’t forget about them!  Now you finally see the chemistry and it’s somethin’ special.  Like I told all of you out there....Hawks WILL make the playoffs.....just wait for April and then once again I just might be right :D

Side notes:
The Seabrook signing...not a fan of it.  Glad for people that love him but let me put it this way....there’s a thing called salary cap.  Right now we have 12 players signed for next season and it’s already at 49 mil.  We still need about 10-11 players to sign for about (say if the cap goes up to 62 mil) 13 mil....that’s going to be hard....so it looks like in the off-season don’t be surprised when you see players traded or not re-signed....it won’t be as bad as the last off-season.

For all the fans of Antti Niemi....well looks like he won’t be back anytime soon.  Just signed a 4yr deal with the Sharks.  Don’t blame them....he’s finally coming around with his slow start of the season.

For all the fans of Big Buff fans......here’s an interesting stat...from Oct-Dec 31st he had 15G, 25A.  This year as of right now he has only 4 goals and 5 assists. I know he’s a defenseman now but just sayin.

For all the fans of Verabeauty.....he got traded to the Flyers....weird to see him in that jersey.  Wish him the best!

For all you Hawks fans.......GO HAWKS!  OH YEAH!!!!
