Brouwer at Lamplighers!

So once again, I have gone to see Troy Brouwer at a signing....although this one was different.  I suprised one of my friends and had her meet her one of her favorites.  She had no idea until we meet up that night....where we were going and who we are seeing.   I hope if she reads this....she doesn't get upset but I have to tell ya how it all came about.

So a few days before we were to go I texted her and asked her, "Hey what r u doing on Mon?"  She was like nothin'.  I go, "What time do you get off of work?"  She says whatever time it was.  I go, "Well, me and you are going to dinner in Palatine on Monday?!?"  She texted me and said, "Well, tell me if were going to have dinner with Sharpie....cause then I have to get my hair done!"  I texted her back and said, "lol....umm you might have to get your hair done and it ain't for me!"  She texted back and said...."Well, in that case then I have to put on some makeup too!"  I said, "Probably!"  She wrote, "If only, I could loose 60 pounds by Monday!"  I was like "WOW! That's HILARIOUS!"

So Monday night comes along and I finally tell her.  She was EXCITED!!!!  I think her heart was racing.  We probably got there about 6:15 and there were probably about 50 people there.  We ended up sitting on the side cause all the tables were taken in front.  Nice thing about Troy is that he's always early.  He probably got there about 6:45ish.

Him and Conner McKnight were talking about the Blackhawks on The Score 670am.  They had audience members go up and ask a question.  Can you believe my shy self went up there?!?!  Basically what I had asked him was...."I notice more of a physical presence in your game compared to the previous two seasons....is that something that you have worked on or did it just happen?"

Now here's a interesting stat about Troy Brouwer...at that time he had 140 hits this season so far.  Last season he had a total of 189 and the previous season before that he had a total of 125.  We've still got a good over 35 plus games still left.  He's going to be well beyond last season.  His answer was basically....Yes, that is something I have wanted to work on this season......fill the gaps.....create more room for the top players....and he did say that compared to the last two seasons at this point....I have more hits....and if you saw me I did say "EXACTLY!" but not out loud....you could read it on my lips!

After the Q&A with Troy Brouwer....it was time to get his auto and pic!  My friend was so EXCITED!!!  I was like...."YEAH!"  We waited til the line went down....probably at least 200-250 people in this small room.....maybe even more.  She got her pic/auto and I got mine....so we were both happy campers!

So here are my pics from the event.  GO HAWKS!!!

The Hawks last six games

Hi there Hawks fans…..this is going to be somewhat brief cause I’ll be super busy this week and the only time I can write this is now.  Anyways, the Hawks are 22-18-3 overall.  They are 3rd in their division and rank 11th in the conference.  Hawks have 47 pts and there are 4 other teams with the same amount of points but they have a few less games played.  The Western Conference is a tight squeeze between the 4th to the 11th only being a few points off of each other.  In the last 6 games, they were 2-4-0.  They got 4 out of 12 points in those games.  They have only won the last game….hopefully they can keep up the momentum up and go on a winning streak.

Leaders for the Hawks
Goals- 24 Sharp
Assists- 21 Keith
Points- 42 Sharp
+/- Campbell +17   Sharp -9
FO% 59.6 Toews
Shooting %- 18.3 Bickell
TOI 26:46 Keith
Hits- 138 Brouwer
B/S- 82 Hjalmarsson
Takeaways- 46 Toews
Giveaways- 48 Keith
PPG- 9 Sharp
PIM-45 mins Dowell and Scott

In the last 6 games…

Power play as been at 23.5% with 4 goals in 17 chances with at least a man advantage.
Penalty kill has been 68.2% allowing 7 goals in 22 times of being short-handed.
Can’t really do a report card because the only thing the Hawks got going for them is their power play and goaltending.  My suggestion would be if you have one the worst PK in the league….you might want to stay out of the box.  Here’s an interesting stat about their PK…..39 short-handed goals were allowed all of last season….this season alone they are already at 33 goals and were only half-way thru the season.

Here are the scores and interesting stats for the last six games

Hawks vs. Blues (12/28/10)
Blues win 3-1
-43 shots on goal for the Blues vs. Hawks 26 SOG
-Dowell is the lone scorer and his 1st in 14 games
-Scott vs. Janssen…..Scott gets the win
-Marty Turco was the 3rd star of the game

Hawks vs. Sharks(12/30/10)
Sharks win 5-3
-the only + players were Hendry, Bickell, and Bolland with a +1
-Seabrook led the team with 6 hits for the game
-Keith led the team with 5 takeaways and 4 blocked shots

Hawks vs. Ducks (1/2/11)
Ducks win 2-1
-Bickell is the lone scorer for the Hawks with a +1
-Hawks out shot the Ducks 40-18 despite loosing the game
-Selanne (Ducks) did not convert on the penalty shot that he was rewarded
-Hawks were out hit 29-15

Hawks vs. Kings (1/3/11)
Hawks win 4-3
-Sharp with 2G, 1A and Toews 1G, 1A
-Smyth with 2 goals for the Kings
-Johnson was 70% at the dot

Hawks vs. Stars (1/5/11)
Stars win 4-2
-Stalberg was awarded a penalty shot but did not convert
-All of Stars goals were on special teams..Ribeiro getting 2 of them
-The Hawks out hit the Stars 39-26 and Seabrook had 9 for the game
-Hawks out shot the Stars 37-22 for the game
-Hawks were a +4 overall as a team while Dallas was -6

Hawks vs. Sens (1/7/11)
Hawks win 3-2 (SO)
-once again Hawks let the other team score late in the 3rd which it made it go into OT
-Sharp and Kane score for the Hawks in regulation while Johnny and Kaner scored in SO
-6 hits for Seabrook and Bickell
-Sharp 71% at the dot

Notes
-Hawks swept the series versus Kings it’s the 1st time since 81’-82’ season
-Sharp has 8 points versus the Kings this season
-4-8-1 tied after the 2nd period for the Hawks
-43 SOG that were allowed by the Hawks vs. Blues…highest allowed all season
-Niemi is 3-0 versus the Hawks so far this season
-Sharp with his 150th goal in the NHL vs. Sens (1/7/11)
-Your top D pair so far this season Keith -8, Seabrook -6
-Kane finally scored (1/7/11)….not since Nov. 30th

Overall, Hawks need a lot of improvement.  They struggle in every game.  My suggestion and I know it sounds crazy but maybe you might want to scratch one of your core players.  It might send a message that they might need to get their game together.  Here’s who works well together.  Skille-Dowell-Stalberg…Bolland-Brouwer-Bickell….Kane-Sharp…….Kopecky-Hossa

Here’s my suggestion
Kane-Toews-Sharp
Hossa-Johnson/Pisani-Brouwer
Bickell-Bolland-Kopecky
Skille-Dowell-Stalberg
         Or
Kane-Toews-Brouwer
Hossa-Sharp-Bickell
Pisani-Bolland/Johnson-Kopecky
Skille-Dowell-Stalberg

Who knows what in the world I’m talking about….all I do know is that all the players are healthy so lets start some lines that have some chemistry….even the D needs to switch up…..Yeah that’s right…..the top pair D ain’t working up to par.  Stay out of the penalty box cause your PK is killing you guys.  I will be missing tonight’s game so let me know if you see any improvement!!!  GO HAWKS!!!!

Hawks t-shirt

Back in 2008-2009, I made a Hawks shirt for Halloween.  I dressed up as a crazy bald Blackhawks fan....which to this day i still think is HILARIOUS!  From then on, I have started a tradition of making a Hawks shirt for every season.  I finally got done with this season shirt....the only reason why it took me so long was I had orginally tried making one before I went to MSI to meet several players....but it failed.  I tried a different color (red instead of white) and it didn't work.  So finally I have it done and it looks AWESOME!!! :D  I figure I'd show you my previous work.

2008-2009 Hawks shirt

Yeah, yeah....it's naughty but HILAROUS!!

The pins are from various games throughout the season

If your not able to read the shirt (I don't know how you couldn't)
but this is what the shirt says
"Hello Chicago Blackhawks Players!"
"You can be in my penalty box..........ANY TIME!
(Shhh, that's a secret!)
"Good luck this season!  GO HAWKS!!"

2009-2010 Hawks shirt
This shirt there was a little bit of thought into it.  I ended up getting a program for my computer and print it out to transfer it to the shirt.  All the pics are from the previous season (08'-09').  On the back of the shirt I wrote the number instead of the name....so people would have to think of the player.  Some of the sayings are cute and the others....well can't help it's a lil naughty!

My goal: Have current Hawks players to read the back of my shirt.
Good luck this season!!!  GO HAWKS!!

Not sure how to change this....on my computer its the right way so that you could actually read all of it.

I can tell you what some of them say.  If you want to know more...let me know.  All of these sayings are significant to something that they have done that i had seen throughout the 09'-10' season.
#32 (Versteeg) G-L-A-M-O-R-U-S
#10 (Sharp) YEAH SHARPIE!!!
#51 (Campbell) You're the most adorable with kids!
#33(Byfuglien)  I will join ya at the party in front of the cage (net)!
#5 (Sopel) Help with wrapping gifts?!?
#39 (Huet)  That was super sweet!
#2 (Keith) Awww, Duncan you're too cute!
#81 (Hossa) Drop it like it's HOTT! :)

2010-2011 Hawks shirt
I will only give you the front.  If you want to see the back....well then your going to have see it in person.  The back is my favorite so that's why it has to be a mystery.  All the pics on the shirt are once again from the previous season (09'-10').  And this shirt is actually sweet.  Best one that I've made by far!!!

So that's all the shirts I have made.  Took some time but well worth it.  Hopefully one of the players will be able to see this new shirt.  I LOVE IT!!!  So if you see me wearing it....say hi!
